Hsbc Hong Kong Tax Residency Form

In order to comply with Hong Kong legislation, we need your help to provide and confirm your tax residency status and details. This process is called self-certification. If you are a tax resident of one or more jurisdictions outside of Hong Kong that are listed as “reportable jurisdictions” in the legislation, we are required to share your account information with the Hong Kong Department of Internal Taxation (IRD). IRD then exchanges this information annually with the tax authorities of the jurisdictions with which it has concluded an AEOI agreement. In the event that we do not receive your response, we will rely on the account information we have on file to determine your tax residency for the purposes of the CRS return. To comply with regulations, HSBC may need to hire you from time to time. If you have multiple relationships with us, you may be approached by different parts of the HSBC Group. Your response to all our requests helps us serve you better and accurately capture your information. Once again, we are grateful for your continued help and support.

Up-to-date and accurate information about you is crucial for CRS reports and we appreciate your prompt response to our request. If you are a tax resident of one or more jurisdictions outside Hong Kong that are listed as “reportable jurisdictions” in the legislation, you may receive our request or a reminder of that request for your tax residency data. The first exchange of information will take place in 2018. For more information, visit the IRD website. More than 100 jurisdictions around the world have introduced local CRS laws, including Hong Kong. The Inland Revenue Ordinance (as amended) established a legal framework for Hong Kong that implements the new international standard for the automatic exchange of financial account information (“AEOI”).
